Discover an even wider selection of jerkbaits in our store! Jerkbaits gradually made their way to Finland towards the end of the last millennium. I remember when I first put up some American Pige jerkbaits on my wall, thinking that no one would buy them. This must be a total flop. Priced around 200 marks, they looked like they were crafted by an elementary school child with a killing stick. Although the Pig jerkbaits eventually found their user base, I wasn't actually wrong in that assumption. If the conquest of jerkbaits had relied solely on that lure, many beautiful pike would have remained un-caught in Finnish waters. The high price combined with challenging retrieval methods and their tremendous weight effectively slowed sales of these lures. It's important to remember that at that time, even heavier pike rods were 240-300 cm long, with lure recommendations generally in the 10-40g range. Thus, they were all quite unsuitable for effective jerkbait fishing. In Sweden, jerk fishing was already booming several years before it truly took off in Finland. Eventually, the breakthrough came with the Swedish Strike Pro's Buster Jerk, which captivated almost all active pike anglers due to its reasonable price and ease of use. Zalt and Bomber lures were pushed down to lower-tier tackle boxes, and Busat were on everyone's lips. It's an incredible lure, praised by both novice jerk anglers and seasoned veterans alike. And rightfully so. The Buster remains Finland's best-selling jerkbait despite facing numerous strong and less successful copies. While the biggest jerkbait boom has now peaked, jerkbaits have nonetheless carved out their place in lure sales. Current recommended lures include the Daiwa Lazy Jerk in various sizes and the Westin Swim Jerk.
