Headway Tip
Scientific Anglers set out to create a new line system designed for two-handed casting. To gain a better understanding of the needs of Scandinavian salmon fishermen, SA began its project by interviewing Nordic fly fishing shops with knowledgeable staff who understand the features customers desire in their gear. Through these interviews, Scientific Anglers gathered detailed insights into the shortcomings of existing line series in the market – how to improve and optimize them. With passion, the SA team built prototypes that were rigorously tested and developed alongside experienced Norwegian salmon fishermen and fly casters, even though we have some skilled casters right here from Rauma as well. As the scientific anglers we are called at Sissos, we proudly declare that the Headway line and tip series are the most thoroughly tested and refined in SA's history. These lines and tips cater to both novice casters and seasoned salmon anglers, regardless of the modern rod being used.
Headway Bellies are designed to be used with tips. Without a tip, the line does not perform as intended. The tapered tips straighten both small and large flies nicely at the end of the cast without causing tangles. The tips from the same product family are an excellent choice for extending other shooting heads! There are three different types of Bellies: floating, intermediate (slow sinking), and S3 (sinking at 3 inches per second). The lengths of the tips vary between 9 – 18?, with six different sink rates available.
The rear weighting makes the belly a quick loading tool for the rod, allowing for casting in tight spaces where trees may tangle your hair. The butt is dyed orange for easy identification, so making a new cast quickly is straightforward when you know which part of the line should be close to the rod tip. The connection between the belly and the tip is seamless, creating a harmonious transfer during the cast. The textured coating distinguishes Headway from traditional lines, making it easier to lift the line from the water. The line ID is printed directly on the line, so you won't forget which lines you have in your pack.
