The Chef's Choice M4643 ProntoPro is a precise and quick handheld diamond sharpener designed for both straight and serrated knives. The sharpening discs are made from selected 100% diamond crystals. The Criss-Cross™ technology uses full diamond wheels, sharpening the knife by both pulling and pushing movements. The rotating motion of the sharpening discs is faster and gentler on knives than a back-and-forth motion.

It sharpens both straight and serrated knives at 15 degrees and 20 degrees angles. Asian-style knives or fish filleting knives are typically sharpened to a 15-degree angle, while chef's knives are usually at a 20-degree angle. With this sharpener, you can quickly and easily sharpen all styles of knives and blades.
Usage Tip:
Always begin sharpening with honing, using the finest grit. Test to see if honing produces a sharp edge. If not, follow up with a coarser grit before finishing with honing. This method extends the lifespan of both the sharpener and protects your knives from excessive wear.
Do not use for sharpening scissors.
You can test the sharpness of the knife with a paper test. Slice the edge of an A4 sheet at a 45-degree angle to the paper. Cut using the full length of the blade with a sliding motion. If the knife cuts through the paper smoothly, it is sharp. Alternatively, test sharpness on a tomato; a sharp knife should slice through a tomato cleanly without excess force.
