- A classic like no other!
Crafted from hard-wearing and water-repellent Vinylon-F fabric, the Kånken backpack has been a leading choice for backpacks for decades. Kånken is one of the few backpacks recognized by name. Countless color options are available, with new additions coming regularly.
Kånken - the straight-back solution
When the Kånken was launched in 1978, it aimed to resolve back issues for schoolchildren. At that time, back problems were becoming prevalent among younger age groups, and shoulder bags remained more popular. Although the backpack has several functions, they are all straightforward and clear. It quickly became a common sight in preschools and kindergartens everywhere. The idea of carrying a backpack spread rapidly, and so did Kånken. Today, Kånken is equally popular and serves as an excellent choice for school, hiking trips, or commuting by bicycle. The backpack features two side pockets and a front zip pocket. It has a top handle, narrow, flexible shoulder straps, a seat cushion tucked in the back pocket, and a reflective logo for visibility.
Countless uses - Whether walking through crowds, cycling across hilly terrain, hiking in nature, hanging out with friends, or using Kånken as a school backpack, it's versatile for various activities.
Back-friendly simple design makes it extremely comfortable - the backpack's design has remained virtually unchanged since the 70s. Thanks to its simple yet ingenious design, it distributes weight evenly across both shoulders, effectively preventing back and shoulder strain.
A backpack that feels light even when full - Kånken feels comfortable and lightweight on your back, whether full or empty. This is due to its narrow yet carefully designed shoulder straps, which distribute weight exceptionally well on both sides. The shoulder straps are easy to adjust to the user's preferred length.
Durable and resilient year after year - Forget backpacks that barely last a year or two. Kånken is made from resilient and lightweight Vinylon F fabric, which withstands various stresses exceptionally well. It's also easy to clean on the inside. Simply dampen a cloth and wipe it down, and the backpack is as good as new and ready for use.
Easy to fill and empty - The square-shaped Kånken has a spacious 16-liter main compartment and a large opening, making it easy to pack and unpack your belongings.
Despite its small size, it holds an astonishing amount - Kånken is more spacious than you might think. Its perfect size ensures you won’t accidentally carry extra stuff. Its square shape accommodates laptops and books particularly well.
Narrow yet deep side pockets prevent items from falling out - the side pockets are ideal for storing your phone, charger, small items, or an umbrella.
Repels moisture in winter rain and summer downpours - professional photographers trust this backpack so much that they carry thousands of Euros’ worth of camera equipment in it. However, it's not entirely waterproof or weatherproof. Kånken pays special attention to the quality of zippers used on the backpack. The zippers are covered with fabric to keep moisture out.
Convert the shoulder straps into a carrying handle and carry it like a bag - Take the backpack out of a cramped bus, train, subway, or crowded space and carry it comfortably like a bag! You can combine the shoulder straps into a single carrying handle with a convenient snap attachment. The best part is you can still easily access your belongings.

Note! Water and dry cleaning are prohibited for the care of Kånken backpacks.
Whatever you do, do not put the Kånken in the washing machine. Instead, wash dirty spots with lukewarm water, mild detergent, and a soft brush or sponge. It's best to dry Kånken by hanging it in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight. Also, avoid leaving Kånken in direct sunlight—the color will fade. Kånken prefers shade or less intense sunlight. Strongly dyed colors might release some dye when wet.
