The Lion of Finland is cast in bronze.
Marttiini Suomi-Finland knives have roots dating back over twenty years. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of independent Finland in 1997, Marttiini launched a special knife. In 2009, the knife received an improved appearance. The handle features the Lion of Finland cast in bronze, embodying the Finnish spirit of sisu, reflecting the determination with which our predecessors safeguarded our nation's current prosperity. This knife model has been presented as a 'Sisu Knife' at various Olympic games as an honor to our athletes who have demonstrated exceptional determination and resilience, the peacetime gladiators. The Lion of Finland is, of course, also embossed on the sheath of the knife. Chromium steel is low maintenance and classified as stainless, ensuring that the blade retains its sharpness for a long time. Sharpening chromium steel can be conveniently done with diamond sharpeners.
