The Savotta Minijääkäri is a smaller daypack from the Jääkäri product family, meticulously designed based on valuable user feedback and wishes. The Minijääkäri distills the functionality and familiar design of the reputable Jääkäri pack while being lighter and more compact.
Minijääkäri embodies Savotta's vision of what a daypack in this size category should be. Every detail has been carefully considered and tested. Despite its small size, the Minijääkäri is a highly adaptable daypack, whether your adventure takes you through an urban jungle or the heart of a dense forest. Its modularity is enhanced by the addition of various separately purchased accessories such as removable straps, chest straps, hip belts, extra padding, and back supports, all of which increase the Minijääkäri’s usability significantly.
Not just a small backpack, the Minijääkäri is a tool for the active individual. Thanks to its compact dimensions, it doesn't catch on tight spots and is perfect for cycling, running, skiing, and hunting. If weight isn't a concern, the Minijääkäri can also serve as a durable companion for extreme activities. The compression straps on the pack allow for a snug and secure fit for your gear. Additionally, it makes a fantastic carry-on for air travel.
Pack Organization
The Minijääkäri’s pack is designed to be narrow yet spacious, accommodating the essentials for a day trip. The opening is secured with a folding flap, allowing for overpacking. During normal use, the pack’s opening can be folded over about ten centimeters, preventing items from bouncing around inside and also making it quite water-resistant. The flexible opening and generous strap lengths facilitate ample overpacking. The volume of the Minijääkäri adjusts smoothly between 18 to 22 liters.
Inside the flap, there is a zippered compartment for valuables and small items such as a passport and toothbrush (dimensions 15 x 25 cm). Accessing your belongings is easier thanks to a front stiffener that keeps the Minijääkäri's mouth open like a dentist's chair.
The pack also features an internal pocket (dimensions 25 x 37 cm) for a hydration bladder or other separately stored supplies. This pocket can hold a 13.3" laptop or smaller tablets and books. An elastic band at the pocket's top prevents items from bouncing around inside. A suspension loop at the top allows a hydration bladder or other gear to hang securely.
There are outlets protected under the flap on both sides of the pack for hydration hose or antenna lines.
With compression straps located on the sides, the pack can be tightened securely, even with minimal packing. These straps can also be used to secure longer items paired with removable straps.
PALS Webbing
No Jääkäri would be complete without the modularity provided by the PALS webbing system, also known as MOLLE.
The PALS/MOLLE attachment system is used in military applications virtually worldwide. This system was created for scenarios that demand absolute modularity and durability.
MOLLE, which stands for Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment, is well suited to Finnish needs. PALS stands for Pouch Attachment Ladder System.
Applying this technology, the Minijääkäri becomes a highly modular unit. MOLLE webbing is available on the front, sides, top, and even on the carrying straps. With compatible pouches, the Minijääkäri can be expanded into a tactical tool for professional use.
In addition to allowing modular attachment options, the MOLLE webbing reinforces and stabilizes the pack. One MOLLE loop on the Minijääkäri can withstand over 100 kg of pull.
Other Attachment Points
The flap’s attachment straps are long and run across the entire front and bottom of the pack. If needed, a 25mm strap can neatly thread through the MOLLE webbing and be raised to any desired location. This allows for secure item attachment to the front of the pack without extra loose straps. The bottom of the pack includes four webbing loops, allowing for gear to be secured also to the bottom. This is especially suitable for carrying rolled-up sleeping pads.
The front panel (flap) features a Velcro patch (size: 5x13 cm) for a name tag, patch, or any tag of the user's choice.
The side compression straps of the pack can also be used to secure items that wouldn’t otherwise fit in the backpack. These straps are long enough to reach across to the opposite side for secure fastening.
Caring and Carrying
The slim and comfortable 40mm wide shoulder straps provide support without restricting movement. These straps are equipped with MOLLE webbing for attaching small accessories, chest straps, or even a hydration bladder hose. The MOLLE webbing also has attachment loops for carabiners. The carrying handle on the neck area allows for easy transportation by hand.
The carrying system of the Minijääkäri can be customized with separately available chest straps, hip belts, additional strap padding, and back supports for the hydration bladder pocket.
