The Savotta Mini Jaeger is a compact daypack from the Jaeger series, created based on a wealth of user experiences and feedback. The Mini Jaeger combines the finest elements of its predecessor while retaining the functionality and familiar design language of the award-winning Jaeger backpack. Ultimately, the Mini Jaeger is a lighter and modified version of the Jaeger pack.
The Mini Jaeger represents Savotta’s vision of what a small daypack in this size category should embody. Every detail has been meticulously considered and tested. Despite its compact size, the Mini Jaeger adapts remarkably well, whether you're navigating the urban jungle or exploring the depths of the wilderness. Its modularity is enhanced with pockets from the PALS/MOLLE system and various separately purchased accessories: detachable straps, chest straps, hip belts, additional padding, back reinforcements, etc., to enhance the usability of the Mini Jaeger.
The Mini Jaeger isn't just a small pack—it’s a powerful tool for the active individual. Thanks to its compact size, the Mini Jaeger fits easily into tight spaces and is perfect for biking, running, skiing, and hunting. If weight isn't a concern, the Mini Jaeger can also serve as a durable companion for any extreme sport. The pack compression straps ensure a snug, secure fit to eliminate any shifting during travel. It also serves excellently as hand luggage on flights.
Pack Organization
The Mini Jaeger's pack bag is designed to be narrow yet spacious, accommodating the essentials for a day trip. The opening of the bag is secured with a foldable flap, allowing for overpacking. When loaded normally, the top is bent about ten centimeters over the flap, preventing items from bouncing out of the Mini Jaeger and also making the flap quite water-resistant. The flexible opening and generous strap lengths allow for significant overpacking, and the Mini Jaeger's volume adjusts smoothly between 18-22 liters.
Inside the flap is a zippered pocket for valuables or small items, like a passport or toothbrush (measuring 15 x 25 cm). A front reinforcement at the mouth of the bag facilitates easy opening and access to contents, keeping the Mini Jaeger’s opening wide like a dentist's chair.
Inside the pack bag, there is a pocket (measuring 25 x 37 cm) for a hydration bladder or items you wish to keep separate. This pocket comfortably fits a 13.3" laptop for the day, or alternatively, smaller tablets and books. The top of the pocket features elastic to keep items organized and secure within the pack. A strap attachment is found at the top of the pocket for securing the hydration bladder or other gear securely.
There are also outlet openings for a hydration bladder tube or for cables or antennas, tucked away on both sides of the pack beneath the flap.
With compression straps located on the sides, the pack bag can be tightened securely even when partially loaded. These straps can also be used to bind longer items, especially alongside detachable straps.
PALS webbing system
The Jaeger wouldn’t be a Jaeger without the modularity provided by the PALS webbing system, or MOLLE for short.
PALS / MOLLE is a mounting system used in military applications across almost every country. This mounting system is created for scenarios requiring absolute modularity and durability.
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment, which readily rolls off the tongue in Finnish. PALS stands for Pouch Attachment Ladder System.
By applying this technology, the Mini Jaeger has become a highly modular system. MOLLE webbing is present on the front, sides, bottom, and even on the carrying straps. With MOLLE, you can attach any PALS-compatible pouch almost wherever you want on the Mini Jaeger. With the right pouches, the Mini Jaeger can be transformed into a tactical gear tool suitable for professional use.
In addition to providing modular attachment opportunities, the MOLLE system enhances and stiffens the backpack. Each MOLLE strap on the Mini Jaeger can withstand over 100 kg of pull.
Other Attachment Points
The attachment straps on the flap are long and run across the front and bottom of the pack. If necessary, the 25 mm strap can be navigated along the MOLLE webbing and raised to the surface wherever desired. This allows for secure attachment of gear to the front of the pack without the need for extra straps. There are four webbing guide loops at the bottom of the pack through which straps can run, enabling equipment to be secured at the bottom of the pack as well. When attached to the bottom, it’s perfect for carrying rolled sleeping pads, for example.
On the front of the Mini Jaeger (flap), there’s a Velcro patch area (size: 5x13cm) for a name tag, flag, or any tag of the user's choice.
The compression straps on the side of the pack bag can also be used to secure items that won’t otherwise fit in the pack. The tightening straps are sized adequately long so that they can reach over the pack to the opposing attachment if needed.
Carrying
The slim and comfortable 40mm wide shoulder straps are supportive yet do not inhibit movement. The straps feature MOLLE webbing for attaching small accessories, chest straps, or a hydration bladder tube. At the top of the shoulder straps are attachment loops, for example, for securing a carabiner. The carry handle at the back of the Mini Jaeger makes transportation easy while on the go.
The carrying system of the Mini Jaeger can be customized with separately available chest straps, hip belts, additional strap pads, and back reinforcements for the hydration bladder pocket.
