Remington manufactures rifles with both short action (SA) and long action (LA).
The .308 Win and smaller caliber rifles are designed for short actions, while .30-06 Sprg. and larger calibers are suited for long actions.
If you are uncertain whether your rifle is short or long action, you can check by measuring. In SA rifles, the action screw spacing (at the base of the stock) is 165mm, and in LA rifles, it is 187mm.
