For over a century, consumers have trusted Ballistol. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the Imperial German Army sought a versatile oil that could clean, lubricate, and protect firearm wood and metal components, treat minor wounds and bruises, as well as leather equipment.

This need was met by Friedrich Klever and his son Helmut Klever, who worked as a chemistry professor at the University of Karlsruhe. In 1904, they successfully produced an oil that met the Army's stringent requirements. They named this "miracle substance" Ballistol, which remained in service with the German Army until the end of World War II.
Since 1945, the oil has been further developed and has gained widespread popularity among hunters, fishermen, mechanics, and DIY enthusiasts alike.
