With portable devices, targets can be seen precisely and located easily under even the most demanding conditions. The Hikmicro TQ50C can function either as a handheld thermal monocular or as a clip-on accessory attached to a riflescope. A separately purchased adapter is required for attachment to the firearm.
It attaches to the objective lens of the riflescope. The appropriate adapter is selected based on the outer diameter of the riflescope's objective lens. When used in clip-on mode, the device utilizes the riflescope's own reticle, ensuring that zeroing generally remains unchanged in practice. (The zeroing must still be checked, however. Any necessary adjustments are made on the thermal camera, so no changes to the riflescope's zeroing are required. The sight is easy to adjust for various applications, such as using it for thermal detection on a chemical hand warmer or a can filled with warm water.) With the eyecup in place, the device can also be used as a thermal monocular. In this mode, it is particularly useful for locating wounded game or for any situation where visualizing temperature differentials is beneficial. The device has an energy-saving standby mode that is very easy to activate. The device takes a few seconds to boot normally, but with a quick press of the on/off button, it awakens instantly from standby mode. If the thermal camera is connected to, for example, a smartphone, you can set the standby mode from the thermal camera. You can still see on your phone's screen if any movement occurs, and with another button press, the thermal scope is ready for immediate use. When connected to a smartphone, it is also very easy to take photos or videos that are saved directly to the phone. The thermal camera comes with its own battery. Charging can be done either while the battery is in place or separately after removal.
