Savotta Single Magazine Pouch AR-15 / AK M05 Woodland
Savotta 1-mag pouch, designed for one 30-round AK/RK or AR15 magazine. The flap secures with a folding cover and Velcro, and the PALS attachment can be threaded into sturdy belt loops.
The direct flap keeps the magazine secure, covered, and protected from mud and moisture. The folding cover and Velcro can be attached in two positions: upper position for AK/RK banana magazines, and lower position for more manageable AR15 magazines. When closed in the lower position, the pouch can also accommodate a Glock 17 without optics or large lights. While we do not claim this to be an ideal holster for handguns, in a pinch it can also carry a pistol.
The reinforced bottom strap increases the durability of the pouch's utility, as the corners of magazines can wear through the fabric from this area first. Lastly, a drainage hole is present at the bottom of the pouch.
On the rear, you will find Savotta's standard PALS connectors with foldable tops. The connectors can also be threaded into belt loops for belts 45-50 mm wide.
This pouch's flap closes with a polyethylene-reinforced folding cover, known internationally as a “tuck tab” and locally referred to as a “muzzle tab,” utilizing Velcro. The folding cover is mechanically very simple yet exceptionally reliable compared to plastic buckles, snaps, and just Velcro alone. This is nearly identical to the connection straps of our PALS-compatible pouches with a locking reinforced end, but shorter and equipped with a grip strap for quick release.
Thanks to the Velcro, the pouch remains reliably closed even when half-full, allowing for quick sealing of the flap without securing the folding cover. The hook side of the Velcro can be covered with an included cover panel for nearly silent operation.
Pro-tip: when putting a new pouch into use, pinch the folding cover with your fingers to create a proper C-bend. This makes closing the flap much easier, as the curved tip of the locking mechanism fits into its counterpart more smoothly. And don’t worry, polyethylene is extremely tough stuff; it won’t be damaged by bending and twisting, which is why it’s used in tough applications.
Although designed for a single 30-round AR15 PMAG with Ranger Plate or a 30-round RK plastic magazine, this pouch can hold many other items as well. Here’s a rough list of compatible gear:
