Laxa 3.0 Felt Wading Boot
The Laxa 3.0 wading boot designed by Guideline for 2024 is an updated version of its predecessor, improved with a newly developed, highly comfortable, and supportive midsole.
The color is the familiar, classic "sober dark grey Graphite." The outer fabric is made from durable and robust 900 denier polyester, which is free from DWR treatment, meaning it is free from PFA compounds and fluorocarbons. The outsole material is the classic choice, felt. Unlike many short-lived felt-soled boots, this boot features felt stitched around the entire outsole through the midsole, resulting in significantly more durable construction. Many less expensive felt-soled boots end up in the wading boot graveyard mainly because the outsole separates. This separation occurs when kicked against underwater rocks, especially where the front edge of the felt layer is glued, which can fail surprisingly quickly. The stitching reinforces the outsole attachment to the midsole, ensuring longer-lasting boots. The felt material provides excellent grip on various wet surfaces. In fact, felt is the only right choice for those fishing in locations with wet, clean, and slippery rock surfaces beneath their feet. The new midsole of the wading boot delivers comfort and support – but what does that mean in practice? Each step becomes more comfortable and supported, reducing the strain on your feet and decreasing the risk of falls. Consequently, you are likely to wade for longer days and fish longer, echoing the mantra "the first catch is the last catch."
The boot's inner structure relies heavily on foam that absorbs very little water. This feature is crucial as it means that supportive wading boots do not become heavy when wet, allowing for easy morning walks and less cumbersome trudging in the evening. Thin extra reinforcement layers at the front and heel areas improve the boots' torsional strength. With these reinforcements, the boots maintain their shape even when wet, in deep water and between rocks. The added benefits from these reinforcements are primarily a more comfortable inner structure for your feet and a warmer interior for your toes. The latter is based on the fact that there is less pressure on the toe area.
The bottom of the boot is reinforced with rubber to withstand impacts from hard and sharp rocks. The upper part of the lacing features quick-lacing hooks, while the back of the boot includes a familiar "wide webbing loop." The Laxa 3.0 wading boots come in a spacious Nordic fit. Traveling anglers will surely appreciate the boots’ delightful lightweight nature and quick-drying qualities. To minimize the ecological footprint, the boots are packaged in boxes made from recycled cardboard.
