Guideline Laxa 3.0 Wading Boots with Felt Soles
The Guideline Laxa 3.0 Wading Boots, designed for 2024, are an updated version of their predecessor, featuring a newly developed and extremely comfortable and supportive midsole.
The color is the familiar classic "sober dark grey Graphite". The outer fabric is made of durable and sturdy 900-denier polyester, which is free from DWR treatment, making it free of PFA compounds and fluorocarbons. The sole material is classic felt. Unlike many short-lived felt-soled wading boots, the felt in these boots is stitched around the sole through the midsole, creating a significantly more durable structure. Many cheaper felt-soled boots often end up in the graveyard of wading gear precisely because the sole separates. This happens because when kicked against underwater rocks, especially the glueing on the front edge of the felt is put to the test and can fail surprisingly quickly. Hence, stitching reinforces the attachment of the sole to the midsole, ensuring longer-lasting boots. The felt itself provides excellent grip on a variety of wet surfaces. In fact, felt is the only right sole material for those fishing in locations where there is mainly wet, clean, and slippery stone surfaces underfoot. The new midsole of the wading boot adds comfort and support - but what does this mean in practice? Every step feels more comfortable and supported, reducing foot strain and lowering the risk of falling. For these reasons, you are likely to be able to wade longer days and fish until the last catch of the day.
The internal structure of the boot heavily relies on foam that does not absorb water. This feature is crucial as it ensures that supportive wading boots do not become heavy when wet, allowing for light and quick movements in the morning while preventing sluggishness and splashing in the evening. Thin extra reinforcement layers at the toe and heel areas enhance the torsional strength of the boots. These reinforcements help maintain the boot's shape even when wet in deep waters and between rocks. The additional benefits of these reinforcements include a more comfortable interior for your feet and a warmer environment for your toes. The latter is due to the reduced pressure on the toe section.
The lower part of the boot is reinforced with rubber to withstand impacts against hard and sharp rocks. The upper part of the lacing features quick-lace hooks and there is a familiar "wide webbing loop" at the back of the boot. The Laxa 3.0 wading boots come in a wider Nordic fit. Traveling anglers will surely appreciate the boots' delightful lightness and quick drying properties. To reduce the ecological footprint, the boots are packaged in boxes made from recycled cardboard.
